Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)

Fédération Internationale de Football Association, better known as FIFA, is a non-profit organisation that exists to govern football and the ‘FIFA’ game series worldwide. Some of FIFA’s partners are Adidas, Coca Cola, Qatar airways, and Visa.

FIFA was founded in 1904 with the purpose of uniting national football associations from around the world. The number of participating nations are 209 members, more than that of the number of countries that form the United Nations.

FIFA is considered the most prestigious sports organisation in the world. For example, comparing FIFA with the NBA (National Basketball Association), FIFA has more of a global reach and fans than FIFA.

FIFA was established on the 21st of May, 1904. The founders were seven nations; Belgium, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. They started FIFA to start friendly relations between each other.

In the early 20th century, leaders throughout Europe, with the leadership of Robert Guerin, a French journalist, shaped FIFA’s future in Paris.

The current being Gianni Infantino, since 2016.
